Spring/Summer Shoe Styles For the Guys
Another hit is the derby, the suede tie-up shoe. Perfect for the warmer months because suede breathes. Dressed up or down they look great no matter the outfit. They come in many colors but beige and navy are the choice this season.
The two-tone brogue has been around since the sixteenth century thanks to the Irish and Scottish agricultural workers of that time. What makes this shoe great is that it accentuates your attire. The brogue goes with just about anything but looks best with dressy clothes. When choosing a pair stick to subtle colors that will stay in style for years to come.
When we think tropical summer shoes espadrilles come to mind. This year quality materials like suede, canvas and leather are the way to go. Nothing looks better than espadrilles paired with linen pants and a button up shirt. Espadrilles are not for formal wear unless the bride and groom are getting married on the beach.
Last but not least is the double monk-strap. Worn by monks around the eleventh century they provided more protection than sandals. Double monks accentuate your attire with its unique style. For even more attention leave one of the buckles undone.
So to sail through the summer get shopping for the five must-haves. Remember to stick to subtle shades like tan or navy so your kicks with go with what you’ve got.
Don’t buy a new wardrobe…
Instead of buying a whole new wardrobe add one piece to make it work for fall. For dresses with bare shoulders or backs add a jacket, vest or sweater to warm it up and to style it for the season. Your shirt skirt set becomes better with pants. Instead of pumps or sandals with that outfit try boots, booties or cute laced shoes.
Switch from a summer skirt to fall skirt by adding one that is not as bold and is made of thicker material. Casual goes with casual and formal goes with formal when adding the new piece unless you are going for an interesting look. Switch around and see what works to find the style that fits you and the fall.
The New Shoes For Fall
The new shoes for fall feature some interesting twists on regular styles. The hybrid boot pump leaves the top of your foot bared. High heel and wedge short boots are all the rage. Embellished styles feature bling on the boot. Take your sandals into the new season with ankle strap high heels.
Past styles come back with modern enhancements. Glittery pilgrim shoes and shiny multi colored riding boots come to mind. Forties style pumps boast brighter colors and bolder designs. Pumped up penny loafers and furry footwear is fun and flattery. Interesting and attention getting is the name of the game this fall.
Anything goes when it comes to footwear. Have fun because whatever you put on your feet will be in style.Disco platforms are back so if you find some in your closet wear them. Pair any shoe or boot with long socks for an extra interesting look.
Your Momma Wears Combat Boots
Well so does yours. They both have style. What kind of boot is in style? Any kind. This fall there are all types of boots for all types of looks and uses. Boots are not only in style they enhance your couture as well as how you look.
Wearing ankle boots with pants instead of pumps looks more complete and they are so comfortable. What a confidence booster. It’s much harder to fall off of a boot than a heel.
Wear heavy boots with light clothes to give off that earthy feel.
Jeans tucked in boots only work with skinny jeans and therefore skinny legs.
So before you head out try a few pairs with your outfit and see what looks best. Have fun with it since anything goes with boots.
Fall Capes & Ponchos In Style
Edna Mode from the Incredibles let us know that capes are not a good idea for super heroes but this Fall capes and ponchos are in style for the general female population.
The word “hippie” may come to mind when thinking about ponchos but many styles, textiles, colors and sizes are available to give the look of elegance or a more casual feeling.
Capes are just the thing to throw on before taking the dog out or getting the morning paper. Ponchos or capes are great for layering and look good with hats, leggings, slim pants or skirts. Boots finish off the ensemble along with a cross-body bag worn under the poncho. No worries about pick pockets.
Just make sure that you are wearing the poncho or cape and not the other way around. The ends should be between fingertips and the knees. Otherwise it will look like you are snuggling in a blanket. Leave that for lazing on the couch watching TV.
When shopping for this year’s wrap consider a poncho or cape. Most are very affordable and all are the hit this year.
